This site is dedicated to our experience with the raising and training of our new livestock guardian dog. The breed we chose was the Turkish Kangal Dog. We acquired our first puppy, a female , from Patricia and Grady Russell of Russell's REGAL KANGAL Dogs .

We named our puppy Ariella which is Hebrew for "Gods Lioness" as there is a saying in Turkey that Kangals are part lion. We also feel blessed by God to have acquired such a fine example of this noble and ancient livestock guardian breed.

Join us in our journey as we make regular postings about our day to day observances and interactions with "Arie" as we train her and integrate her into our flock of Shetland Sheep.
